Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – It’s Up in the Air

Original

Update 1

Balloon Affair

I made this mixed media piece for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge “It’s Up in the Air. The birds are holding flower balloons. I glued scenic paper to a corrugated cardboard piece. Stamped it with Devid Roodenburg’s Script From the Past in black ink. The birds are from Tim Holtz Bird Silhouette and the flowers are his Wildflower Stems collections. I used TH Distress Embossing Glaze for the balloon flowers. For the distressed areas I added Distress Scorched Timber and layered vintage lace. It is framed with TH Eclectic Edges stamp and embossed. The birds are standing on velvet ribbon and a piece of jute. I then added gold splatters.

I am still thinking about this piece and whether or not I should push it a little further……

*****UPDATE: I made a few changes. The brown distressed area bothered me – so, I added linen washi tape and a distressed button to it. I added embossing to complete the frame and added a black border to the piece. I really like the changes… still not sure it is finished.. but as always a work in progress!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Food and/or Drink

Stay Curious

This is a fun mixed media card I made for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Food and/or Drink.

The background is embossed with the Eileen Hull 3D Textured Impressions embossing folder Silverware, brushed over with a mix of pink acrylic paint. I stenciled Devid Roodenburg’s Plusses stencil in Distress Texture Paste Black Opaque and then brushed over it with white gesso.

The Teacup was decoupaged with a floral napkin, cut up to make it look broken. I then glued the pieces back together and lined them with gold to make a faux Kintsugi. I cut the handle off and then covered the teacup in Ranger’s Glossy Accents. Once dry I stamped it with Devid Roodenburg’s Plusses and More stamp set.

The leaves, which are meant to look like a succulent plant, are one of Eileen Hulls BigZ Leaves, Spring cut out of kraftstock and colored with various Distress Inks and Oxides and then embossed with the Tim Holtz’s 3D Texture Fade Woven

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Feather or Fur

Hello

I made this piece for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Fur or Feathers. I have been exploring a peeled/chipped paint technique and have found that the layers in Tim Holtz’s Colorize Dies work really well for this technique. I used his die Bird and Egg with Distress Texture Paste Crackle Opaque. I added glue to the center of each piece leaving the edges to curl. I hope you are inspired to make something!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Fun with Stencils

Garden Path

I made this card for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Fun with Stencils. It is an abstract garden path with all the beautiful things you might encounter. I am working on brightening up my work and trying not to make it so grungy… I would have to say it is a challenge for me…. LOL

I used 110# white cardstock and stenciled Connected dots with Saltwater Taffy Oxide. Next, I added Crooked Broomstick crayon and then Sparkle Texture Paste through the same stencil, letting it dry in between steps. Once it was dry, stenciled Burlap with Pumice Stone Oxide over the open circles being careful not to get oxide outside the circle area.

I tore sections from a napkin and decoupaged the images over the circles. Down the center I layered web ribbon, velvet trim and a scrap piece of paper which was made using Distress Oxides over the Burlap stencil. I cut out several sizes of circles in mixed papers and glued them down on top of each other semi-organically. The base circle has print stenciled Dotted with Aged Mahogany. I layered it with gathered string, cloth and the Ide-ology butterfly.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to make something! Be Well – J

Use Dies in December – Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Wings

This is my make for this weeks Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Use Dies in December. My thought behind it is – tin angel’s wings that have been taken off, hung up and forgotten, grungy and rusted. There is an old stain glass window of an abandon building. The background is worn and distressed with lots of texture. And last but not least, I added a bell because one of my favorite Christmas movies is “It’s a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart and I thought angel wings needed a bell.

I have used Tim Holtz BigZ – Cathedral Window #664974, Layered Angel Wings #658259. I used various Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Oxides, crayons, watercolor pencils and mediums. I also used a mix of other Sizzix dies from older sets, not related to Christmas, but I thought their greenery worked. There is a Tim Holtz Idea-ology bell and screw heads. The stain glass window has an inlay of Tim Holtz Distress Alcohol Inks on packaging plastic. The window has been embossed with Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder Cracked #666295.
